UPDATE(10/22/2020) : On 10-21-20, a tip was received stating that Juan Mario Jolivette entered a local business in the Opelousas area. He was apprehended for Exploitation of the infirmed (4 counts), bench warrant (2 counts) and booked at the St. Landry Parish Jail.
According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “On June 30, 2020, detectives with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office were notified of a large amount of money being exploited from an elderly man in the Sunset area.”
Reports indicate that the victim is an 85 year old male. A family member has power of attorney of the victim and is responsible for the victim’s medical and financial needs. It was reported to the detectives that over the course of approximately four months, a total of $14,480.00 was exploited from the victim’s checking and savings accounts.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that Allison Hardy was the elderly victim’s part-time caretaker and she cashed eight (8) unauthorized checks written in her name, totaling $9,300.00. Additionally, ten (10) unauthorized ATM withdrawals were made from the victim’s accounts, totaling $3,600.00. Photographs provided by the financial institution showed Allison Hardy was the person at the ATM making the withdrawals.
On October 16, 2020, Allison Lynette Hardy was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail for 18 counts of Exploitation of the Infirmed.
An additional active arrest warrant has been issued in this case for Juan Jolivette, who is an acquaintance of Allison Hardy. Juan Jolivette also made four (4) unauthorized ATM withdrawals from the victim’s checking and savings accounts totaling $1,580.00.
