The wet weather just keeps going here in Acadiana and for some, it has been enough:
“Today I am tired of all the rain and all the wet. I'd like to be out in my garden gardening, planting things, I’d like to be at the pool sun tanning, enjoying friends and family outside. Yes, I definitely miss the dry weather” says Lafayette resident Tammy Veillon.
In a typical year, Lafayette picks up right around 62 inches of rain. That sounds like a lot because it is but, when you spread that out over an entire year it makes for our typical weather. This year has been a little bit different though as we currently sit almost 20 inches above average. As of the first week of July, Lafayette has seen 80% of its annual rainfall with more wet weather likely to come.
You might be wondering why it has been so wet recently and the reason is we have been stuck in similar, wet patterns for almost the past 3 weeks. Whether it has been upper-level lows in the Gulf or Stalled Fronts over the region, the weather has been primed with plenty of moisture which has led to rainfall in Lafayette 17 out of the last 18 days!
