Westminster Christian Academy Lafayette Holds Ground Dedication For New Gym

WCA Lafayette continues to grow, making a vision a reality

Posted: Apr 28, 2021 10:20 AM

Lafayette, LA – Westminster Christian Academy Lafayette, a K3-12 private school founded in 1989, held a ground dedication ceremony in preparation for the groundbreaking of the school’s long-desired gymnasium. The gym is the next big step toward Westminster’s effort to truly transcend and transform the athletic program for the entire student body.

“We are beyond thrilled to be taking this step today. The long awaited gym and campus hub is about to be a reality, and I can’t wait to see how the Lord will use this building for His purposes,” said Mr. Scott Davis, Head of School for Westminster Christian Academy.

Westminster Christian Academy Lafayette began thirty-three years ago in an office building on Hugh Wallis Road. The small school quickly grew and moved to another office space in Acadiana. Ten years after it originated the school moved to the current location, previously a soybean field, at 111 Goshen Lane. Since breaking ground on the current location in 1999, the campus has continued to expand and develop, which led to the launch of an upper school in 2018.

Student growth and development, prospective student appeal, opportunities for wide-ranging ministry, and campus stewardship and exposure are but a few of the benefits of an athletics center on the WCA Lafayette campus. Perhaps even greater than the tangible benefits are the opportunities to contribute to the ongoing transformation of students along with those they impact throughout their lives. Specifically, in the realm of athletics, leaders have natural means of introducing, challenging, and developing Christlike character in young men and women.

A space dedicated to enhance and expand these opportunities will be a game changing addition to campus life and outreach with the message of the gospel of Christ. The gym will not only serve the Westminster family for activities but will be available to serve the community by offering the space to like-minded groups that might enjoy its use.
