Lafayette, LA (KADN) -- Errol Rodgers, Jr. played all the receiver positions for the Ragin Cajuns last year. He finished his freshman year with 13 catches for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Errol didn't play in the first two games of the season, but then the freshman receiver pounced on a chance to shine against Georgia Southern. He scored his first touchdown.
"I felt like outside was just my spot and I could really play right there," Rodgers said. "I can really play both inside and outside if they need me to. It is whatever they need me to play."
Errol helped the Ragin Cajuns because of injuries starting with the Georgia Southern game. He is not satisfied with just one good year here. His versatility and knowledge impress the Louisiana coaching staff and his starting quarterback.
"He practiced all day at the H yesterday," wide receivers coach Tim Leger said. "He practiced all day at the Z today. He's just that guy."
Rodgers used to be a quarterback at LCA so that helped him understand all the receiver positions. His dad used to be the women's basketball coach here at Louisiana. He is always encouraging his son.
"He'll call me after practice every once in a while and see how I am doing," Errol said. I will show him some of my routes and stuff."
The other receivers say Rodgers is the quiet one, so he just wants his play and versatility to speak for itself.
