Unrestrained Driver Succumbs to Injuries in St. Martin Parish Crash

St. Martin Parish – Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I were notified of a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near milepost 113 (between Breaux Bridge and Henderson) in St. Martin Parish at approximately 12:00 a.m. on November 18, 2021. The crash ultimately took the life of 58-year-old Whitney Brown of Carencro.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed the crash occurred as Brown was driving a 1998 Ford F150 east on I-10. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle ran off the roadway and struck the barrier wall. Upon doing so, Brown was ejected from the vehicle.

Brown was unrestrained at the time of the crash. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. On November 22, 2021, Troop I was notified by hospital staff that Brown had succumbed to his injuries.

Impairment is unknown with toxicology results pending. This crash remains under investigation.
