UPDATE: Second Suspect in Custody in Church Point Shooting

UPDATE: 11/13/2020- Investigators with the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office have arrested a second person regarding a November 3rd homicide which occurred in Church Point. A 16 year old juvenile has been arrested for 1 count of 2nd Degree Murder, 2 counts of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property.

Since his arrest, this individual has been adjudicated via the courts and has been indicted by a Grand Jury on the listed charges. This individual will stand trial as an adult according to the court actions.

Cameron Lorenzo Byers, 16 of Church Point has been booked into the Acadia Parish Jail with Bond set at $610,000.


On Nov. 3 around 8 p.m., the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Church Point Police Department conducted an investigation into a shooting incident in the corporate limits of Church Point.

Shortly after 7 p.m., officers responded to South McMillan and East Ebey St. regarding a shooting. APSO was requested to handle the investigation.

Thus far the investigation has revealed that two victims were shot at by two suspects while walking. Multiple shots were fired at the victims with one victim being struck.

The victim who was struck was a 14-year-old male who succumbed to his injuries the following day on Nov. 4, according to authorities.

Nicholas Ardoin, 18, of Church Point was arrested around 3 p.m. on 2 counts of attempted second degree murder and aggravated criminal damage to property. Bond has been set at $510,000.

A second juvenile suspect is being sought for questioning in this matter.
