Traffic Stop Leads to the Arrest of Three; Drugs and Weapons Located in Vehicle

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 Chevrolet Impala for traffic violations and not being able to observe the license plate.

ST.LANDRY PARISH - The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 Chevrolet Impala for traffic violations and not being able to observe the license plate on October 28, 2021. Upon contact with the driver, Keavonte Malik Rideau, the odor of a suspected controlled dangerous substance came from the vehicle. The passengers in the vehicle were identified as Terrance Earl Jones, Jr. and Meldrick Kevin Hayes, Jr.

Upon searching the vehicle, the following items were located:

· Clear bag containing approximately 98.9 grams of suspected marijuana;

· Clear bag containing approximately 3.4 grams of suspected marijuana;

· Clear bag containing approximately 5.6 grams of suspected marijuana;

· Clear bag containing approximately 22.3 grams of suspected marijuana;

· Clear bag containing approximately 19.7 grams of suspected marijuana;

· Three (3) clear plastic cylinder container with blue top containing a total of approximately 83.4 grams of suspected marijuana;

· Five (5) rectangle shaped boxes labeled GEN, each box containing THC vape pod;

· Four (4) black digital scales;

· Pill bottle containing 35 pills of suspected Xanax;

· Springfield Armory XD5 9mm handgun;

· Taurus TH9 9mm handgun;

· 223/556 caliber pistol style automatic rifle with no identifying make or serial number; and

· Approximately $2,794 in US currency.

On October 28, 2021, Keavonte Malik Rideau was transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail and booked with traffic violations, possession of a firearm in the presence of a CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, possession with intent to distribute schedule I CDS, and possession of schedule I CDS.

Terrance Earl Jones, Jr. was transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail and booked with possession of schedule IV CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm in the presence of a CDS, possession with intent to distribute schedule I CDS, and transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses.

Meldrick Kevin Hayes, Jr. was transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail and booked with possession with intent to distribute schedule I CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm in the presence of a CDS, and transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses.
