NEW ORLEANS, La. — In the wake of the victory in the Harding v. Edwards case, the Power Coalition for Equity and Justice (PCEJ) and their partners -- including Voice of the Experienced (VOTE), and the NAACP -- are celebrating the three additional days of early voting (10 days total) with a series of live and online events across Louisiana. From Oct. 16 through Oct. 27, they will be treating each day of early voting like it’s Election Day in order to boost voter turnout in Louisiana to historic levels.

They're also partnering with the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law to protect voters from issues they might be experiencing at the polls. They'll be supporting roving poll monitors across the state who will be able to respond to voter intimidation, malfunctioning voting equipment that leads to long lines and any other problems. If you or anyone you know experiences problems voting, you can also call 1-866-OUR-VOTE.

“We’re excited to be able to put our victory in court into practice for early voting,” said PCEJ Executive Director Ashey Shelton. “When we vote, we change things. Our vote is one of the most powerful expressions of our voice. Early voting has started and we all need to get out and cast our votes so we can make our voices heard and our power felt at the polls this election season.”

Here’s a full breakdown of the events they have lined up so far. More will be added as early voting momentum continues to build.
