The Moon and Mars to both be visible in the night sky this month

The Moon and Mars to both be visible in the night sky this month.

Well we have entered the month of October and there are some pretty interesting and cool things happening in the night sky over the next few days and throughout the month and let’s start things off with the beginning of the month. We are seeing our first full moon which is known as the “Harvest Moon” which occurs Thursday night and into Friday morning. We are expecting clear conditions so great viewing.

Also this week though we are expecting Mars to make an appearance next to the Moon on Friday night. The two will be very close together. All you have to do is look up and you will see a bright red dot next to the Moon. We are expecting clear conditions Friday as well so make sure to go out and view it!

A little bit of an interesting fact, normally we only see one full moon in a month but this month we have TWO! The second one is occurring on Halloween night, just in time for the werewolves to come out! This second full moon of the month will be known as a “Blue Moon”. It will not appear blue though as this is just a name given when there is a second full moon in a month.
