Breaux Bridge—Hancock Whitney Bank has awarded Teche Center for the Arts’ 6th Annual Treble on the Teche Music, Arts, and Culture Camp a Premier Partner sponsorship donation of $5,000 to underwrite the entirety of the camp, which was held on November 23-25, 2020. In recent years, TCA received grants and governmental funds to support the camp, but this year marks the first time Treble on the Teche was underwritten by a private sector donation. Nonprofit and for-profit private business partnerships are revenue streams that TCA hopes to further develop as governmental arts funding faces severe cuts.

“To deliver Treble on the Teche safely and successfully, Treble being our most beloved and popular program, when we are all dealing with drastic changes due to COVID-19, has been a highlight of the year,” Coatney Raymond, TCA Board Chair, noted. Raymond assures the community that TCA continues to pursue its Mission and is forward-focused on delivering relevant, safe, and much-needed activities, like the Christmas Drive-by Party initiative. “We’re listening to what the needs are. People need to feel like they are part of the community now more than ever. That’s the spirit of Christmas and the job of TCA—to bring people together,” she concluded.

The economic impact of COVID has reached deep into the community. Hancock Whitney’s donation provided scholarships for families who couldn’t afford the camp, paid for all art supplies, and compensated the Teaching Artist instructors. Because of the generous funding from Hancock-Whitney, TCA was able to offer a diverse group of children opportunities to learn traditional Cajun musical instruments, songs, games, and create art.
