BROUSSARD , La. - On Wednesday August 18, 2021, Investigators with the Broussard Police Department were notified by the Lafayette Corner’s Office that the victim Jordan Porter died as a result of his injuries sustained from the shooting incident that occurred August 11th at 404 E Monroe; charges for the suspect Justise Harrison , 20 , have been amended to Second Degree Murder due to the death of the victim.
Harrison is still incarcerated Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
Officers with the Broussard Police Department responded to the 400 block of E. Monroe St for the report of a fight and the report of someone being shot on Wednesday August 11, 2021,.
Upon officers’ arrival they located a male victim identified as 29 year old Jordan Porter with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Investigators were able to determine that suspect Justise Harrison , 20 , sister of the victim, and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical. Harrison’s girlfriend then intervened to break up the altercation when Harrison went into the residence retrieved a firearm and returned then shot the victim in the abdomen.
Harrison was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for one count of attempted second degree murder.
Porter was transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition.
