Well it looks like summer is over and we are heading into fall and there are some changes on the way but, first, let’s take a look at what we experienced here in Acadiana over the Summer of 2020.

Overall, both temperature and precipitation amounts were slightly above average. With that being said, the numbers weren’t much out of the ordinary. Our average high was right at 91.1 degrees. For our extremes our hottest day was 98 degrees in August with our 5th all-time warmest low temperature of 81 occurring in July.

We did see some more extreme weather her in Acadiana and greater SW Louisiana with the landfall of Hurricane Laura in late August. The storm made landfall as a category 4 storm with 150 mph winds and was tied for the strongest Louisiana hurricane on record. Here in Acadiana, storm surge was a big impact in the coastal parishes along with this. strong winds several inches of rain were picked up across the region.

As we move forward into climatological fall it is all downhill in terms of our temperatures. By the time November rolls around our average highs are refreshing in the 70’s and 60’s. With that being said, cooler temperatures are on the way!
