State Police: Kaplan man dead in Acadia Parish crash

Five other people in the Yukon were also hurt. All were taken to the hospital with moderate to severe injuries.

ACADIA PARISH (KADN) - A Kaplan man is dead following a Saturday morning crash in Acadia Parish.

Louisiana State Police were notified of the crash on Highway 13 at East Whitney Street about 11 a.m.

LSP investigators determined a 2005 Lexus was traveling west on East Whitney Street when the driver, Joseph Francis IV of Lafayette did not yield at a stop sign.

Francis' vehicle hit a 2004 GMC Yukon that was headed north on LA 13.

Following the collision, the Yukon filled on its side. A backseat passenger was partially ejected.

That passenger was identified as Isidro Padilla, 53, of Kaplan. LSP said he was not wear a seatbelt.

Five other people in the Yukon were also hurt. All were taken to the hospital with moderate to severe injuries.

LSP stated that a standard toxicology test is being done but impairment is not suspected.
