Lafayette, La. - On October 13 at approximately 6:30 pm, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to the 300 Blk of Macklyn Street in reference to a stabbing.
Once officers arrived on scene, they learned that the victim was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries that he sustained from the altercation.
The investigation revealed that there was a verbal altercation between the victim and suspect. The altercation took a violent turned when the suspect produced a knife, and struck the victim multiple times.
The suspect, Mr. Omar Taylor, B/M, 23 of Lafayette was located, and transported to the police department to be interviewed. At the conclusion of the interviewed, investigators were able to charge Mr. Taylor with Attempted First-Degree Murder due to the victim being 65 years or older. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
