St. Martinville revises curfew for juveniles

A new juvenile curfew is in place in St. Martinville due to increase shootings and shots fired calls.

Posted: Jun 10, 2021 2:22 PM

St. Martinville - The St. Martinville city council has issued a revised juvenile curfew to begin July 1, 2020. The new juvenile curfew is as follows:

9:00 pm to 6:00 am
Sunday thru Thursday

10:00 pm to 6:00 am
Friday and Saturday

This curfew change was presented to the council by Chief Martin due to a recent increase in shots fired calls and shootings at night. We are attempting to keep kids in the house and off of the streets at night.

To answer a couple questions that have been asked by the community;

1- anyone under the age of 17 that is in transit to or from work, school activities or a family function will be instructed to go home and not be issued a citation for violation of the curfew.

2- If the juvenile is with a parent or guardian, they are allowed to be out past curfew.
