The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's office is investigating circumstances surrounding a homicide in Lawtell.

UPDATE: St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz is now confirming that the death of Joseph Vallian of Lawtell is ruled as a homicide. Autopsy findings indicated that Vallian’s cause of death was blunt force trauma. No other information can be released at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's office is investigating circumstances surrounding a homicide in Lawtell. Investigators discovered the victim's body around 5:30 Wednesday evening in the 400 block of McClelland Street. Scources tell us the victim, 66 year old Joseph Vallian, was severely beaten, tied up and left to die. The investigation into this case is ongoing.
