NEW IBERIA

Sandbags will be available at the Acadian Ballpark (401 N. Landry Drive) on Thursday August 26, 2021.

Shovels will not be provided, and residents should be prepared to fill their own sandbags at this location.

The city is asking residents to please enter on Landry Drive and exit on Halphen Street for flow of traffic. If you have any questions, please contact the Public Works Department at (337) 369-2391


The City of New Iberia announced the opening of sandbag locations. Shovels will not be provided, and residents should be prepared to fill their own sandbags.

Iberia Parish President M. Larry Richard announced that sand and sand bags are available at the following locations:

Rynella Fire Station

Delcambre City Barn

Loreauville Park

Jeanerette Fire Station

BROUSSARD

Sand and sandbags are available to Broussard residents at the following locations:

• Behind Broussard City Hall - 310 E. Main St.

• Deer Meadow Subdivision - corner of Deer Meadow Blvd. and Myette Point St.

• Broadview Dr. – by the Broussard Community Center

These sandbag stations are self-bagging and are open until the threat of heavy rain has passed. While the sand and sandbags are a free service, residents will need to supply their own shovel.

ST. LANDRY

The St. Landry Parish Government is issuing sand bags for parish residents starting at 1 PM.

St. Landry Parish Government crews have begun filling sandbags to prepare for flooding of Tropical Depression #9.

After 1 PM sandbags can be picked up at the Yambilee Building located at 1939 West Landry St. (US 190) in Opelousas.

ST.MARTIN

Commencing tomorrow, August 27, 2021, the sandbag distribution locations listed below will be activated from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. Please be prepared to fill your own sandbags. Also, we request that the public limit the number of bags to 25 per vehicle. Normally, it takes only 6 bags to secure a door.

Paul Angelle Park located at 2458 Cecilia Sr. High School Road

South Barn located at 1011 Capritto 40 Arpent Road

Clayton Boudreaux Memorial Park located at 1028 Catahoula Highway

Lower St. Martin Parish at the Stephensville Park and at Belle River across the road from the Fire Station.

St. Martin Parish Government will be meeting with the municipal leaders this afternoon to coordinate the implementation of additional measures.

Residents who cannot obtain sandbags because of any sort of disability should contact the Parish’s Office of Emergency Preparedness at 337-394-2808.

LAFAYETTE

With the possibility of tropical weather affecting Lafayette Parish, residents are encouraged to prepare now, especially those who live in areas prone to flooding.

Sandbag sites are open throughout the parish. All locations are self-bagging, and residents must bring their own shovel and manpower. Sites are open around the clock, but residents are encouraged to get sandbags during daylight hours.

Residents who need assistance filling and loading sandbags should call the Public Works Dispatch line at 337-291-8517.

As we prepare for the approaching storm, sand and bags are available in front of the Maurice Police Station at 115 West Corine Street. This is available to the residents of the Village of Maurice. Residents outside of the Village can obtain sand from the area 4 Vermilion Parish Police Jury barn located at 13531 Gladu Road, Kaplan or any other police jury barns.

Please prepare for this potential impact.

VERMILION

All area barns in Vermilion Parish will have sandbags available. Please bring your own shovel and manpower.
