Shooting Incident in the 2800 Block of Verot School Road

On August 8, 2020, the Lafayette Police Department responded to a shooting in the 2800 block of Verot School Road.

Lafayette, La. - On August 8, 2020, the Lafayette Police Department responded to a shooting in the 2800 block of Verot School Road. Upon officers’ arrival, they learned that a vehicle containing four occupants was traveling southbound in the 2800 Blk of Verot School Road. At about this time, the vehicle was struck by gunfire. One of the victims was able to provide investigators with a description of the suspect’s vehicle and a description of the suspects.
With the assistance of St. Landry Sheriff’s Office, detectives were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle and three suspects. The suspects were transported back to the Lafayette Police Department where there were interviewed by investigators. At the conclusion of the interviews, Mr. Traivon Mayo (B/M ), 21, Mr. Kevon Henry (B/M), 19, and Mr. Macarthur Johnson (B/M), 36, all of Opelousas were each charged with 4 counts of attempted 1st degree murder.
They were transported to Lafayette Parish Correctional Center where they were booked.
The four victims were not struck by gunfire.
This is an ongoing investigation.
