Lafayette, La. -Officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a local hotel in the 2800 Blk of NE Evangeline Thruway in reference to a shooting in progress on October 4, 2020 at approximately 11 pm. Once on scene, officers learned that the victim had been transported to a local hospital by the suspect after suffering a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The incident began with a verbal altercation between the victim and suspect. It turned violent when the suspect produced a weapon and shot the victim in the upper torso. The victim is now in stable condition. The suspect, Corey Etienne, 34, of Lafayette was arrested and booked at Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for 3 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder and 1 count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
This is an ongoing investigation.
