BREAUX BRIDGE, La. (KADN) - A Breaux Bridge woman is facing murder charges following a stabbing Friday morning.
According to St. Martin Sheriff Becket Breaux, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 1000 block of Benoit Drive, Breaux Bridge.
Once there, deputies found a man, identified as Darius Tre Richmond, 24, with a stab wound to the chest.
Richmond was taken to a local hospital, where he was declared dead.
Investigators determined Monifah Mitchell, 23, stabbed Richmond.
The family of Darius Tre Richmond and community leaders are protesting the release of Mitchell who bonded out of jail swiftly after the murder of Richmond.
"Monifa recieved a bond for MURDER in a swift amount of time despite the fact she had a prior history of violence and, quicker than others in the community that have had lesser charges!"
The family will hold a media briefing Wednesday August 4, 2021 at 2:30.
The family is also hosting a benefit dinner for Darius Richmond. The dinner will take place Saturday August 7th, 2021 starting at 9am-until. It will be hosted at el sidos 1523 N st Antoine st, Lafayette,la 70501

She is charged with one count of second-degree murder.
Mitchell was book into the St. Martin Correctional Center. As of Friday evening, bond had not been set.
