NEW IBERIA, La.- The Shadows-on-the-Teche and Angel Paws Adoption Center are partnering for a brand-new event for the spooky season—Howl-o-ween!

Community members and their lovable animal companions put on their creative hats to FUN-raise for these two local non-profit organizations. YOU get to decide the crowd favorite! Will it be Mark Boyance and Scout, better known as Dog Vader? Lynn Deckard and Rover the Cat? Ricky Gonsoulin and Remi the adorable golden doodle? Larry Hensgens, Jerri LeClaire, and sweet Liberty? Angie King and Lucy the Therapy Dog? Lisa Lourd and Baxter, King of the Berry? Paul Schexnayder and his original artwork of Joe? Dr. Tina Theriot and blue-eyed Oliver? Michael Weber and Lottie the Chicken?

To vote for your favorite and best costumed duo, visit the event website. Each $1 donation counts as one vote for your chosen team. There is a minimum donation of $5. All donations are tax deductible. If you would prefer to vote with a cash or check donation, please visit the Shadows Visitor Center at 320 E. Main St. in New Iberia. Online voting is open through Oct. 30, with voting officially closing on Oct. 31 at 4:30 p.m.

The winning pair will be announced Halloween afternoon at 5 p.m. during a special Howl-o-ween reception at the Shadows. The reception, which will run from 4 - 5:30 p.m., is free and open to all ages. Guests are encouraged to come in costume and enjoy snacks, drinks, music, and a “spooky” scavenger hunt of the Shadows Gardens.

Pets will NOT be allowed at the Howl-o-ween reception. As part of the Shadows’ coronavirus policy, guests are encouraged to wear masks when unable to social distance.
