Second Harvest Food Bank Receives $50,000 Donation from Cheniere Energy for Hurricane Laura and Delta Relief

Second Harvest Food Bank is pleased to announce a charitable contribution in the amount of $50,000 from Cheniere Energy to help with long-term support and recovery in communities impacted by Hurricane Laura and Delta.

LAFAYETTE, LA- Second Harvest Food Bank is pleased to announce a charitable contribution in the amount of $50,000 from Cheniere Energy to help with long-term support and recovery in communities impacted by Hurricane Laura and Delta. Donations like Cheniere’s is essential for disaster-impacted communities and will help Second Harvest provide long-term recovery and build resiliency to affected communities.

Cheniere Energy, the largest producer of LNG in the country and second largest operator in the world, prides themselves with being responsible corporate citizens that work with their communities to meet the unique needs of that community.

“Cheniere is located in Cameron Parish, so naturally Cameron and Calcasieu Parish is home to us, “Amy Miller, Local Government & Community Affairs for Cheniere, “It’s our honor to give back to ensure our communities get their basic needs of food. So, we want to thank Second Harvest Food Bank for all they have done for these two parishes.”

Since the start of the coronavirus emergency in March, Second Harvest has distributed more than 38 million pounds of food and supplies to residents across twenty-three parishes of South Louisiana. This is more than double what the food bank delivered during the same period a year ago. Second Harvest staff, volunteers, and community partners have also distributed more than 3 million pounds of supplies to recent hurricane survivors in Southwest Louisiana.

“Support from partners like Cheniere Energy is critical during times of disaster and we’re very grateful for this generous donation of $50,000,” said Connie Anderson, Director of Development for Second Harvest Food Bank, “This contribution comes at a time when it is needed now more than ever and will help us continue supporting our communities impacted by Laura and Delta.”
