Officers were conducting routine patrol near the 1000 block of W. Nezpique Street on the early morning hours of July 22, 2021. Officers observed a vehicle parked in a private driveway with it's park lights on. Due to the recent spike in catalytic converter thefts, officers approached the residence to further investigate, when John Ramos, 24 was observed walking to a separate vehicle on the property, opening the passenger side door and placing an unknown item inside of it.
Officers made contact with Ramos who stated he was at the residence to speak with the homeowner. Officers then walked Ramos to his vehicle to gather identification when the odor of marijuana was detected emitting from the inside of Ramos's vehicle. Ramos admitted to officers that marijuana was smoked inside of the vehicle at an earlier time. Officers then observe a large amount of marijuana (approximately 67 grams) on the passenger front seat where Ramos was seen prior by officers opening the passenger side door and placing an item inside. After speaking with the homeowner, Zane Lavallier,30, he admitted to officers that there were in fact more narcotics inside of his residence.
Officers were able to secure a search warrant for the residence where they located inside Lavallier's bedroom approximately 10.7 ounces of THC gummies, approximately 150-200 Ecstasy pills, approximately 2.8 ounces of Marijuana, a Ruger 9mm firearm and approximately $743.00 in cash that was placed with the narcotics. Lavallier claimed ownership of all items inside of his bedroom. In another bedroom inside of the residence occupied by Jaxter Johnson,24, approximately 6 ounces of synthetic marijuana, 31 Xanax pills and less than a gram of crack cocaine was located. Johnson claimed ownership of the items inside of his bedroom.
Johnson was arrested and charged with Possession of Schedule I w/intent to distribute, Possession of schedule IV w/intent to distribute and Possession of Schedule II and was transferred to the Jeff Davis Sheriff's Office. Lavallier was charged with 3 counts of Possession of Schedule I w/intent to distribute, Proceeds involving drug transactions and Possession of a firearm in the presence of a control dangerous substance and was transferred to the Jeff Davis Sheriff's Office. Ramos was charged with Possession of Schedule I and was issued a summons and was later released.
