Report: Jameis Winston out for season with torn ACL

New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston is out for the season due to a torn ACL, according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport.

NEW ORLEANS, La. - New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston is out for the season due to a torn ACL, according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport reports that Winston has a torn ACL and after the MRI it was confirmed to him that he is out for the season.

Winston also suffered damage to the MCL, according to Rapoport.

The injury happened during the Sunday night game against Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jane Slater with the NFL Network reported the news of the injury, which happened in the second quarter when Winston was tackled illegally by Bucs linebacker Devin White.

During his post-game media availability, Saints head coach Sean Payton described Winston's injury as "significant."
