Rayne Police Investigating Shooting that Injured One Person

Rayne Chief of Police Carroll J. Stelly announced that Rayne Police detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in the early afternoon.

On Monday September 21, 2020, at 12:17 PM Rayne PD dispatch was notified of a shooting on The Boulevard at its intersection of Arceneaux Drive. Officers and Medical personnel responded to the scene and found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by ambulance to Lafayette General where he later died. A suspect has been identified but the suspects name is not being released at this time.

Detectives are interviewing witnesses and processing the scene for evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
