Lafayette, LA (KADN)-- Jenny Foreman has been competing in beauty pageants since elementary school. She has won the Boggy Bayou Festival pageant in Pine Prairie, but this year she wanted to try something different. Jenny a rookie running back on the Acadiana Zydeco Spice Women's football team.
"I have people all the time look at me and say, 'You play football'" Jenny explained. "You don't look like you play football. Yes, I play football."
Jenny was a pole vaulter at Arkansas State and even played recreational rugby. In her best game this season vs. Baton Rogue she finished with more than 100 yards rushing. She remembers the first time she got hit.
"I saw stars," Jenny said. "Alot of stars."
Her trainer Melshika Bowman is proud of her progress.
"Normally with women you see basketball football every other sport," Melshika said
"But to see them out here playing football is huge."
One pageant weekend in a dress people saw Jenny's football bruises on her body.
"They asked you have bruises on your arms and your legs have you been beaten," Jenny said. " I tell them no, I play football."
Jenny says people ask if it's flag football or lingerie football she tells them it's tackle football. Jenny has four kids and two of them are girls. She dodges tackles on the field, but she tells her young ladies never run away from their dreams.
"Mamma plays football, you can do anything!" Jenny said.
