It's been just over three months since the body of 15-year-old Quawan "Bobby" Charles' body was found in a drainage ditch in a sugar cane field--- nude and his face disfigured and now? An arrest has been made in connection with his death.
The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office arresting 37-year-old Janet Irvin, allegedly one of the last people to see Charles alive. Quawan's family is very vocal about suspecting Irvin as the number one suspect in what they believe to be Quawan's murder.
One family member expressed joy over the arrest.
"Thank God for stand black, for our attorney's, thank god for everybody, thank god for everybody that helped out, thank god for all the sheriff's, thank god for all the pressure, thank god for everything. She has been arrested, today is the day that we start." said Celine Charles.
On Monday shortly after Irvin was arrested--- Iberia Parish Sheriff Tommy Romero released this update along with a release.
"The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Bureau of Investigations made an arrest in the Quawan Charles case. Janet Irvin was booked into the Iberia parish jail on the following charges. Felony charge of failure to report a missing child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor." said Sheriff Romero
The family of Quawan says the arrest is just a start when it comes to getting justice ... they want more charges and more importantly they want convictions.
"It's been a long three months you know. It's been a bunch of turmoil you know; it's been a bunch of stress and a bunch of crying. A bunch of ups, a bunch of downs you know but she's been arrested." said celine charles.
Earlier today irvin was given a bond set a $400,000 .... $300,000 of that is on failure to report a missing child and $100,000 on contributing to the deliquincy of a minor. The Charles' family attorney's was not able to be reached. At this time it is unclear what led to the arrest of Janet Irvin.
