NEW ORLEANS, LA (WDSU) - The President of the United States will visit Louisiana Friday to tour storm damage from Hurricane Ida.

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy released a statement on President Joe Biden’s planned visit to Louisiana on Friday to survey Hurricane Ida damage and recovery efforts.

“We thank President Biden for coming down to help him understand the magnitude of the situation here in southeast Louisiana. We know from bitter experience with Hurricane Laura that aid can be delayed too long,” Cassidy said. “We thank the federal partners who are already here helping with the recovery, and we will ask the President once again that supplemental aid be delivered to southwest Louisiana and expedited for southeast Louisiana.”

Biden has been in contact with Louisiana officials throughout the storm and said any and all resources would be available to the Gulf Coast to help with recovery.
