Pedestrian Killed in Iberville Parish Crash

Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on LA Hwy 1148 west of LA Hwy 1 in Iberville Parish

Plaquemine – Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on LA Hwy 1148 west of LA Hwy 1 in Iberville Parish shortly after 8:00 pm on May 5, 2021. The crash took the life of 22-year-old Tyler Schaffer of Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Schaffer was walking west in the eastbound lane of LA Hwy 1148. At the same time, a 2006 Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on LA Hwy 1148. While Schaffer was walking in the roadway, he was struck by the Honda.

Schaffer sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the Honda was properly restrained and was not injured. As part of the ongoing investigation, toxicology samples were obtained from Schaffer and the driver of the Honda for analysis.
