UPDATE: Three arrested in Opelousas shooting that took the life of Kelly Guidry.

UPDATE 4/13/2021 4:16pm - 18 year old Antonio Livings of Opelousas has been arrested for his involvement in the shooting death of Kelly Guidry. Livings was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail for the following charges:

Second degree murder
Attempted second degree murder
Criminal damage to property

The investigation is continuing and more arrest may be possible.

UPDATE 4/9/2021 12:20pm: Opelousas Police investigated a shooting near the intersection of N. Market St. and Cheney St. that resulted in the death of Kelly Guidry of Opelousas, La. Guidry was shot multiple times. After several months of investigation information that identified Marcus Chenier age 24 of Opelousas and Jevon Figaro age 23 of Lafayette as suspects in the shooting death of  Guidry. The case is still under investigation and more arrest may be made. Chenier was arrested in Las Vegas, Nv. with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals. Figaro turned himself in to authorities. Figaro was booked on April 7, 2021 while Chenier was transported back from Las Vegas, Nv. and booked on April 8, 2021. Both men were booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail as follows:

Jevon Figaro , 23 of Lafayette, La.

Second degree murder,
Attempted second degree murder
Criminal damage to property.

Marcus Oneil Chenier,  24, of Opelousas, LA.

Second degree murder
Attempted second degree murder
Criminal damage to property
Felon in possession of a firearm


On January 23, 2021 just before 8:30 P.M. an Opelousas Police Department officer on Patrol heard gunshots in the area of N. Market St and Cheney St. As the officer proceeded to the area of the sound of the gunshots he discovered a male victim lying next to the railroad tracks. The victim was responsive at the time but was unable to relay any information as to the possible suspects in the shooting. The victim was transported to a local hospital but succumb to his injuries just before midnight. Several homes and vehicles in the area were also struck by gunfire. Detectives processed the crime scene for evidence and will be sending items to the crime lab for analysis. No other information is available at this time.
