Escaped Inmate Taken Into Custody

Escaped inmate Gilbert A. Lee has been taken into custody.

UPDATE - Escaped inmate Gilbert A. Lee has been taken into custody.

He was arrested this morning by the Leonville Police Department at a relative’s home who had called to turn him in.

He will be facing a new charge of Simple Escape. He will be booked back into the St. Landry Parish Jail.

OPELOUSAS, La. - St. Landry Parish Law enforcement officers are looking for escaped inmate 24 year old Gilbert A. Lee.

Lee walked off from a work crew that was assigned to the Opelousas Police Department and was working at the St. Landry Parish Solid Waste recycling center in the 2700 blk. of W. Landry St.

Lee is described as a white male 5’ 6” with brown hair and blue eyes wearing black rimmed glasses ,a lime green inmate top, blue jeans and black rubber boots.

Lee was last seen headed North across W. Landry St towards La. Hwy 104. Anyone who comes into contact with Lee should contact local law enforcement or call 911.
