Lafayette Man Arrested for Catalytic Converter Theft

On Friday morning just before 3:00 AM officers with the Opelousas Police Department responded to a local car dealership after receiving a call from a surveillance monitoring company that observed suspicious activity on the business’s property. Subjects were observed looking under vehicles with flashlights. Officers  approached the business and came in contact with two suspects who attempted to flee from the responding officers. A foot chase took place and one suspect was taken into custody. One suspect was able to elude capture by running into a nearby wooded area. Officers found tools and equipment used in the theft of catalytic converters and found at least one vehicle that had it’s catalytic converter removed. Arrested was Pierce Pitre age 28 of  Lafayette, La.
