Opelousas Police Shooting Arrests

Investigators with the Opelousas Police Department made 2 arrests on Thursday, 1/28/21, in reference to 2 separate shooting investigations.

Investigators with the Opelousas Police Department made (2) arrest on Thursday, 1/28/21, in reference to (2) separate shooting investigations.

2 Counts of RS14:27.30--ATTEMPTED FIRST DEGREE MURDER

Quanderrick Bradley age: 18 of Opelousas, La. was booked on the following charges:

3 Counts of RS14:27.30--ATTEMPTED 1ST DEGREE MURDER

1 Count of RS14:37.1--AGGRAVATED ASSAULT BY DRIVE BY SHOOTING

The first shooting occurred on the afternoon of October 4, 2020 just before 7:00 P.M. when officers responded to several calls for multiple shots being fired from areas in the southwest center of Opelousas. Upon officers arrival it was learned that the shooting involved (2) vehicles. It was reported that one vehicle attempted to cut off, block in another vehicle before a person in the aggressor vehicle got out and began firing what was determined to be a rifle caliber firearm at the victim’s vehicle. Evidence collected indicated the shooting happened in the area of South & Liberty St. Rounds fired during this incident also struck a residence in the 400 blk. of W. Grolee St. that was occupied by two females at the time of the shooting. Further investigation resulted in Investigators identifying Mckey King as the suspected shooter in the shooting and Quanderrick Bradley as the driver of the aggressor vehicle.

The second shooting occurred on January 9, 2021 at about 6:30 P.M. officers responded to a call for shots fired in the area of the 400 blk. of E Franklin St. while officers were on the scene of the shots fired they were advised of a victim that had arrived at a local hospital with a gun shot wound to the leg area. The victim indicated to officers that he was leaving from a residence in the 500 blk. of E. Franklin St. along with a passenger when someone in the area began firing shots at his vehicle striking him in the leg. The victim quickly drove away from the area before getting help and making this way to the hospital. The passenger in the vehicle was not injured. Further investigation resulted in Investigators identifying Mckey King as the suspected shooter in this shooting.

Both arrestees were denied bond regarding their charges after appearing for a magistrate hearing on this morning.
