UPDATE: 11/13/2020- Simon has been formally charged for the shooting. Simon was charged with First Degree Murder, 2 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.


The Breaux Bridge Police Department responded to a call-in reference to shots fired at a residence in the 600 block of Velma Circle on November 9, 2020. Upon arrival it was discovered that three people who live inside the residence had been shot. One subject was deceased who is identified as being Roxanne Hawthorne, 53. The other two victims a female who is 33 years of age and a male who is 50 years of age were transported to a local hospital listed in critical but stable condition. It was later learned that the suspect was Nathan Simon, 31. Simon turned himself in to local authorities where he was arrested on several outstanding warrants, pending further charges for the shooting investigation.
