According to The Daily Iberian, newly elected City Marshal Tony Migues has issued his letter of resignation on Friday April 9, 2021. This comes after previous reports from the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office state that Migues was arrested for Forgery and Malfeasance in Office. Due to the amount of time left on his term in office a special election will have to be held to fill the remainder of his term. His resignation won't become official until Elected Officials file a notarized letter to the Louisiana Secretary of State's Office. To read the full article written by The Daily Iberian click here.

According to Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office records, New Iberia Parish City Marshal Tony Migues was arrested for Forgery and Malfeasance in Office. New Iberia City Marshal Haywood “Tony” Migues was charged and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail following an investigation into alleged falsifying of subpoena signatures.

Arrest Records show that Migues was booked on :

[RS14:72] FORGERY
-- (8) 10,000 BOND AW 1ST APP/ PJ JUDGE BORNE
[RS14:132] INJURING PUBLIC RECORDS
-- (8) ATT W/ FORGERY/ PJ
[RS14:134] MALFEASENCE IN OFFICE
-- (8) ATT W/ FORGERY/ PJ

The investigation began last month as Detectives with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations received information alleging multiple signatures had been forged by Migues on official court documents. A thorough investigation confirmed Migues forged the signature of multiple individuals showing they had been served with a subpoena in lieu of making personal service. Based on this information, investigators secured an arrest warrant for Migues.

On February 4, 2021, Migues, 67, turned himself in to investigators. Migues was charged with eight counts of forgery, injuring public records, and malfeasance in office. He was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail without incident.

The investigation is active and ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
