NWS Confirms EF-1 Tornado Touched Down in St. Landry Parish

The National Weather Service out of Lake Charles has confirmed a tornado touched down in Washington yesterday at 7:22AM. The tornado was rated an EF-1 with wind speeds of up to 100mph and was on the ground for 0.9 miles. The storm did damage to several homes, ripping off roofs and snapping trees. This destructive storm was part of severe weather that moved through Acadiana and set off several tornado warnings as well as dropped over 8 inches of rain in St. Mary Parish.
