The number of people suffering from Mental Health problems continues to increase because of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Mental health awareness month is hitting a little differently this year as many therapists and mental health advocates tell me that since the beginning of the pandemic people are dealing with breakdowns.

“The worst is yet to come.” Marie Collins Said.

With job loss, sickness and an increase in deaths during the pandemic. The pressure has led therapists to see more patients than before.

“We are seeing the increase in anxiety because of the lack of control. The only way I can control that as an administrator is to make sure I can take care of my staff.” Marie Collins Said.

As many people have hopes of things getting back to normal, Collins is afraid that people will have a hard time accepting what isn't normal.

“Every single other person is having anxiety and depression and they don't necessarily know how to deal with it. If you don't take care of yourself, you're walking through a world with all other anxious people.” Marie Collins Said.

Through the hard times, Mental Health advocates are pushing for hope to help heal people.

“It’s important to know when there is a more serious problem , a more serious case of depression or anxiety that is ongoing. Go and seek help from professionals.” Catherine Wattigny Said.
