On October 8, 2020 Duson Police in conjunction with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office seized $750.00 in counterfeit $100 and $50 Bills, an AR 15 Rifle, a Ballistic Vest, 4.30 grams of Heroin, 8 grams of Methamphetamines and a variety of other narcotic related paraphernalia with a street value of over $3,000.00. This investigation involves reports from vendors and businesses throughout Lafayette Parish that reported receiving a variety of counterfeit money over the past 10 days, a vehicle description was provided and Duson Police located the suspect vehicle which was occupied by Zachary Ford 39 years old of Lafayette, LA and Heath Hulin 48 years old of Breaux Bridge, LA.
Officers immediately learned that Ford was wanted by the Lafayette Police for Monetary instrument abuse for possessing tools for forgery/counterfeiting and for passing counterfeit bills in Lafayette.
A search of the vehicle the two were traveling in yielded the recovery of afore listed drugs, gun, ballistic vest and counterfeit money.
The serial numbers associated with the fake money are:
$100 bills S/N DC48334868A GI6488715A KB82252875E
$50 bills S/N AI25858506A MK91489963A MG23952082A MG16902879B
Both men were booked in the Acadia Parish Jail
Ford was charged with Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Methamphetamines as well as the outstanding Lafayette warrant.
Hulin has been charged with Possession of a Firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substance, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Methamphetamines, and Monetary Instrument Abuse.
This investigation is continuing, so if you have received a counterfeit bill you should contact your local police to file the required initial reports whether or not the serial numbers match those found on Hulin and Ford.
