LAFAYETTE, LA (KADN)- If you’re driving down W. Pinhook Rd., you may notice a couple of businesses with boarded windows. That’s because they all were vandalized this past weekend.
The vandalism took Master Lube Oil by surprise. Jhase Elagamy, the manager, said their business took a hit around 4:30 am on Sunday and it was all caught on camera.
“We actually caught a clip of the man, you know, pacing around in the parking lot. And actually, we got a video of him not only our business, but our neighbors of him throwing the bricks inside our windows,” Elagamy said.
Elagamy said they were notified by neighbors that their alarm was going off and they soon found that one of their windows was broken.
“I thought it was out of spite for our business, maybe something we did wrong. And, you know, maybe something we messed up on,” he said.
The busted window cost them $150 to be fixed.
“You know, as a mom and pop, it's not, you know, always the easiest to recover from setbacks like this,” he said.
Not only Master Lube Oil was vandalized but so were New Beginning Ministries, Abacus Banquets and Receptions, and Popeyes.
“During Black Friday, and you know, the holidays coming up, it could get a little crazy. But uh, I mean, nevertheless, just got to keep going. Keep pushing,” he said.
Although this unfortunate event happened to Elagamy and other businesses, he’s not allowing it to set them back.
“Always look at the positives behind it. Maybe we needed another window, you know, maybe this window was old and you know, hey, probably would have cracked in the future.”
No items were taken during the vandalism.
According to Elagamy, police have been working with them and other businesses to find a lead on the suspect.
