Man Wanted for Attempted First- Degree Murder

The Sunset Police Department responded to shots fired near the intersection of Richard St and Pershing Hwy on March 21, 2021, at approximately 11:50pm.

The Sunset Police Department responded to shots fired near the intersection of Richard St and Pershing Hwy on March 21, 2021, at approximately 11:50pm.Officers located a victim who was uninjured. The victim’s vehicle was damaged with multiple bullet holes and  bullet casings were recovered at the scene. Video surveillance was also obtained and the footage showed the driver of a dark colored pickup truck leaving the scene.
The investigation led officers to identify the alleged suspect as Donte Deon Fontenot. A warrant has been issued for Fontent’s arrest on the following charges:
• R.S.14:30 Attempted First-Degree Murder
• R.S.14:95.1 Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
• R.S.14:55 Aggravated criminal damage to property
• R.S.32:415 Driving while under suspension
