The Opelousas Police was called to the Opelousas General Hospital for a report of a female arriving at the hospital with a gunshot wound on September 26, 2020 at approximately 8:26 P.M. It was initially reported that the shooting was possibly a drive-by. Further investigation resulted in Investigators determining that the shooting was the result of an argument between the victim and a former female acquittance of her current boyfriend, Maleke Guillory of Opelousas. It was alleged that while the three were at Guillory’s residence in the 700blk of E. South St. an argument ensued and at some point the victim went into the home and retrieved a handgun. Guillory allegedly intervened and tried to take the handgun from the victim. During a struggle for control of the gun the weapon went off striking the victim in the shoulder area. The victim was transported to the hospital by persons at the residence. It was learned during the investigation that the victim was also approximately 5 months pregnant. Unfortunately the victim and her unborn child succumb to her injuries just after 10:00 P.M. Maleke Guillory was also the father of the unborn child.

Maleke Guillory age 23 of Opelousas, La. has been charged with (2) counts of Negligent Homicide.
