Officers were dispatched to a fight on I10 westbound exit ramp at Louisiana Avenue on April 12,2021 at approximately 3:00 pm.
Upon arrival victim Samer Tobeh advised he was struck by an unknown male following a road rage incident. The victim admitted to arguing with the unknown male while in traffic and admitted to instructing the male to pull over to talk.
When the two pulled over a verbal altercation began and at some point the victim was struck by the unknown male causing the victim to fall to the ground and lose consciousness. The unknown male fled the scene prior to officers arrival.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for his injury. The unknown male was later identified as 55-year-old Kirk Bourque of Breaux Bridge. A warrant was issued charging him with Second Degree Battery and he was arrested on April 19, 2021.
On May 2, 2021 the victim 49-year-old Samer Tobeh of Lafayette, succumbed to his injury sustained during the incident. A warrant was issued for Bourque with upgraded charge of Manslaughter. He turned himself in to officers on May 3, 2021. He was released on the same day on a $75,000 bond.
