On April 24, 2021 at approximately 8:30 PM, officers with the Broussard Police Department responded to 400 block Mary Street in reference to a disturbance where one person was shot in the hand. Officers made contact with a female victim who was found to have sustained a single gunshot wound to the hand. The victim was later transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.
The shooting stems from an altercation between neighbors where the suspect shot from outside the door of the residence.
Officers detained and later arrested Philip Leblanc, III, of Deridder. During the investigation it was learned Leblanc fired a single gunshot from a handgun that struck the female victim. A search of LeBlanc’s residence yielded a Glock Model 19 9mm handgun, several magazines with live ammunition, and suspected marijuana.
Further investigation also confirmed that two additional individuals were located within the Mary Street home, an adult male and a juvenile male. The two additional victims did not sustain any injuries.
Leblanc was charged with the following:
Attempted Second Degree Murder
Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property
Possession of Schedule I – Marijuana
Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a CDS
Leblanc was later booked into the Lafayette Parish Correction Center.
