Lafayette,LA- The holidays are unique because, for many, its all about giving to others. Two organizations are coming together to see not only that kids have a big smile on their faces but their parents as well.
This holiday season Lafayette local Roy Meche wants to lend a helping hand ... so he and his motorcycle crew ... Iron Cross Riders are hosting a toy drive to grant some Christmas wishes.
"Everybody knows what it feels like to get presents on Christmas day. If we can give them that same feeling, we had as a kid opening up their presents. I mean that what we are here to do," says Roy Meche.
Meche's is the president of Iron Cross Riders ... he says they like inspring others to give to those less fortunate,"If we are able, then we will help. That is what we are here to do for the community. If us doing this for the community will maybe open their hearts up and help out."
Kids are not the only ones who'll get a gift ... through a partnership with All Jacked-Up Jeepers, social media coordinator Britney Meche says no one will be left out. "Every family that is on the list will receive a care package of food. We actually take toys after the event to families that cannot make it to the event. So we load up our jeeps and actually deliver to kids."
Meche says since 2019, both groups have helped over one hundred kids, "It just brings us so much joy to be able to help families that are in need. Not just Christmas gifts, but food also. It makes a big impact on everyone's life for us to help out."
The event date is scheduled for December 18 at Cajun Harley Davidson in Scott, from 9am-2pm. Both organizations ask that families come out for pictures with santa, food, and lots of activities.
The last day for donations is December 10. Here are some of the location drop-off locations, and they can also be found on All Jacked-up Jeepers Facebook page. The organization is asking those in the community to come out on December 9 to My Place Bar and Grill for a food and toy drive and hopes that they can support it.
