Small gatherings have become the bread and butter for independent musicians.

It won't be the type of concerts music lovers -- or musicians are used to but things are getting back to normal.

When Governor John Bel Edwards announced live music could resume musicians were thrilled. Coatney Raymond tells me they're excited to have one of their first musical events while maintainig social distancing guidelines.

Raymond says "we are excited to have it in breaux bridge and to be able to offer our community a place to go out and celebrate".

Small gatherings have become the bread and butter for independent musicians. Says covid-19 completely shut down the music industry.

Marys says "it's been hard we miss playing a lot and we're just really glad that it's opening up again".

Raymond says she's overwhelmed with excitement as musicians can now showcase their talent once again.

"I'm really excited about it because we're actually being able to get back and do things again so the excitement level is way up there"

Musician Brazos Huval says when they were told they couldnt perform due covid he grew a stronger appreciation for performance gigs, whether they were big or small.

Huval says "Any small gig any big gig is a big deal now anytime we perform it's a big deal".

Independent musicians have lost a lot of money due to the pandemic shutting down bars and venues, however, they're hopeful for what the future may bring.
