Lafayette woman arrested on felony theft charge

Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated reports regarding several unauthorized credit card charges. They learned multiple unauthorized transactions were made over the span of several days.

(St. Martinville, LA)-Sheriff Becket Breaux announces that on June 20, 2021, Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report from a resident regarding several unauthorized credit card charges. Following an investigation into the allegations, Deputies learned that multiple unauthorized transactions had been made over the span of several days.

At the culmination of the investigation, Deputies were able to identify the suspect, and a warrant of arrest was obtained.

On Monday, July 5, 2021, following the execution of the warrant, the following individual was arrested and charged as follows:

Madelyn Paige Matt, 33, Lafayette, LA

LA. R.S. 14:67-Theft-(Felony)

Following her arrest, she was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the above charge and her bond was set at $7,500.00.
