With evacuations underway in most of Acadiana local residents are preparing for the worst when it comes to Hurricane Delta. We talked to some of those getting ready for the storm and why they decided to stay put.

“For right now we are hunkering down, it’s best that we do it. We don’t have family here so far as if any damages occur to the house we would like to stay here.” says Daniel Silver, resident of Lafayette

While many are deciding to ride out the storm the recent landfall of Hurricane Laura has left an impact on the region and has influenced how people react to Delta

Lafayette resident Donna Domingue said:
“Well I went through Laura and I had a street sign and the top part came down right in front of my house. So, I said I have to take better precautions this time.”

“A lot of people and me myself included took it lightly but after seeing the damages that were done in Lake Charles we are better safe than sorry.” said Silver

And that seems to be the common theme for those out preparing for the inclement weather on the way, its better to be safe than sorry.
