t is a big week for the Lafayette Science Museum. After being closed for nearly a year they are opening their doors to the public this coming weekend. Museum staff say they are excited at the opportunity to welcome people in once again.
“So it feels absolutely fantastic to get back in here to anticipate the “oohs and ahhs” of the kids and the parents and the interaction between them”
Kevin Krantz the Museum Administrator says this is a big moment for downtown as the return of a major city attraction is a sign of hope for the local businesses as well as the museum.
“For everyone of those people that come in and spend the day with us say during the week or the weekend, they go downtown, have lunch, buy a few articles of clothes. We are a big part of downtown and we bring an audience and patrons to downtown by virtue of them coming into the museum”
For those that come in to enjoy the museum, there are several new items and exhibits including a Wooly Mammoth as well as a brand new exhibit about the weather.
The weather exhibit goes over why we see such different type of weather throughout the year here in Louisiana as well as the tools that are used to predict the weather.
The Museum plans to open its doors for the first time this Saturday and Sunday and plans to be open on weekends going forward.
