Calling all readers! Now’s your chance to earn bragging rights and a prize pack for reading and recording your minutes. Take the Summer Reading Challenge and help the Lafayette Public Library reach its community goal of 2,000,000 minutes read by July 31. Lafayette Parish readers have logged more than 1,261,000 minutes since June 1.
The challenge is simple! Read a total of 600 minutes (or 10 hours), which is the average length of one adult audiobook. Once you’ve read 600 minutes, stop by any library location to claim a prize pack (while supplies last) and be entered for a grand prize. Then, keep reading! The more minutes you read, the more online badges you will earn; the more badges you earn, the more chance you have to win a grand prize (one Amazon Fire 8 HD tablet for adults; one Amazon Fire 8 HD tablet for teens; and one bicycle gift card for children). Remember to log your minutes online at www.lafayettepubliclibrary.beanstack.org.
Children, ages 3 – 12, can earn a special prize by getting their Summer Safari Reading Passport stamped at the Main Library and all four regional library locations. Each location is decorated as a summer safari destination such as the Amazon Rainforest and the Australian Outback. Pick up a Summer Safari Reading Passport at any regional library location and get details at http://lafayettepubliclibrary.org/?p=53209.
Prize sponsors include Broussard & David LLC, Chick-fil-A, Kart Ranch, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, Tropical Smoothie Café, and Whataburger. For more information, visit www.lafayettepubliclibrary.org/summer.
