North Pierce Street Shooting Suspect Turns Himself In; Charged with Second- Degree Murder

The juvenile suspect turned himself in to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office

UPDATE:  The juvenile suspect turned himself in to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office on June 14 at approximately midnight. He was then transported to the police department where he was interviewed.

He was booked into the Lafayette Juvenile Detention Center with the charge of Second-Degree Murder.

Officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a disturbance involving a firearm in the 1100 Blk of N. Pierce St on June 10 at approximately 4 pm,.

Upon arrival, responding officers located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. First aid measures were administered prior to the juvenile female victim being transported to a local hospital.

She is listed in critical condition.

Investigation at the scene revealed, the suspect was involved in a verbal altercation with the victim. The altercation turned violent when the suspect produced a firearm. The victim was then shot by the suspect.

The suspect fled the scene.

This investigation is ongoing.
